HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Despite everything, we have managed to keep going during 2021 either by Zoom online meetings or, when permitted, by re-opening our workshop. We managed to extend our openings to a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings and as a result, we have seen regular attendances by hard core regulars.
We hope to be able to hold our first AGM in two years during January at which some important decisions will need to be taken with regard to the future direction of the Shed. By this, we mean charitable status.
In June 2021, the Shed added a partnership with the Grapevine Wellbeing Hub which offers craft-based activities to participants. Activities so far offered have included marquetry, pyrography, knitting, sewing and we hope to be adding model making early in January. Meeting on a Friday morning at Christ the Vine Community Church between 10 am and 1 pm, the group welcomes new members. In addition to the craft events, the Hub also offers a community garden and a drop-in cafe selling hot drinks and snacks.
Update – November 2021
Its been a while since any updates were posted to this website, but the Shed has quietly been beavering away making things and (mostly) selling what it makes from a table placed outside the Shed workshop on mornings when we are there. However, we attended the Newton Longville Christmas Fair at Longueville Hall, and had a fairly successful day selling quite a lot of pyrography output in the form of round plaques and fun sayings with a few of our wooden reindeer and a fisherman thrown in for good measure. Whilst there, a couple of commissions were accepted which we will be working to fulfil in the next few weeks.
Newsletter March 2021
Our latest newsletter reveals what we have been up to during lockdown, and some new things which have been added to the Shed’s products. Worth a read!
We hope to re-open if Government restrictions allow, from the 17th May 2021.
